Social Listening #PerfectReality

4k TV's seem like they just came out and for people who do not follow new tech that much they may not have even heard of OLED technology. Yet, Samsung has come out with the newest technology to date with 8k resolution. Samsung is committed to being the leader in new technology in TV's and their Ad brings it all together with #PerfectReality. Samsung is listening to the speed of the market and having the newest and best may be the only way to stay in the tech world. In Samsung's newest Ad campaign for this TV they compare the TV to being the closest thing to actual reality. In this link you can see how they show off the brilliance of the 33 million pixels and intense detail. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bhw7oHZ1750. However, how far is too far? You have to get specialized channels and equipment to even watch 4k resolution. Now there is 8k resolution? You can get the TV but there isn't even any 8k material out there other than a few YouTube channels and some networks in Japan. People on twitter are even saying that there is no reason to go get this 8k technology because in no time they will come out with 16k resolution.

I believe Samsung's value proposition is innovation and quality and this product is in line with that by staying ahead of the curve with the newest and best TV on the market. The price of the 85 inch TV is as much as a nice used car, yet people are still saying that the price of this TV is lower than expected. This is astonishing to me but Samsung has reached the early innovators and the extreme quality of this TV has the early innovators raving about how amazing the new technology is. Using that same model the "sneezers" will soon spread how good this technology is and, despite the high price tag, it will be worth it for this amazing product. The other thing people are saying is that 8k resolution will be the new normal in no time because of how fast technology is going. Samsung has AI upscaling technology in which the AI (artificial intelligence) takes 4k resolution and transforms it into 8k resolution and this is Samsung's version of responding to planned criticism from the consumer saying that there is no reason to get an 8k TV because there is no 8k content.

I think that not only was this a good decision for Samsung I think it was a necessary one in order to keep their value proposition in line of being the most innovative and quality company in tech. In direct competition with LG for best TV's I think before the 8k TV came out LG had a slight lead in the TV department since they came out with the OLED technology, however, Samsung will have the first 8k TV and I believe they now have the lead in the industry. The one thing I do not exactly agree with is the #PerfectReality. This makes the consumer think that this TV in some way is perfect when obviously the technology will continue to get better. There will most definitely be criticism with this product as their already has been. For example, the ambient mode is supposed to copy the wall design behind the TV perfectly. The problem with this is that to have this done you have to take a picture of the wall behind the TV and add it to the app which will apply the picture when ambient mode is selected despite changes in the current light conditions in the house. I have no doubts that this technology is not only not perfect but also not very effective. As a brand manager I would stay away from saying perfect about anything in technology just because of how fast it is changing. I learned a lot from this assignment in how the leader in technology markets to its clients to how people react to ever changing technology. It seems people are either all in or all out not many people sharing their opinion are on the fence of getting it.
